What would we be without sounding boards?

What would we be without sounding boards?

If it wasn’t for the emotional support of friends,

life would be pretty dreary. Who would we then turn to,

to talk about our opinions and confusions?

If you don’t have a sounding board someone who will listen to your dilemmas –

then you probably lead a very guarded life.

And leading a guarded life will mean that you can never have a true relationship

with anyone;

neither close friends, nor intimate partners;

no matter how much you wish for it.

You will become selfish and haughty;

maybe leading a grand life style, but one that is never satisfying enough.

For it is impossible for other people to try and understand

you if you do not even understand yourself.

And you can only understand yourself

if you can bounce your ideas of who you are off of another who will listen –

and listen to their advice, if asked.

A real friend will not let your choices offend them,

or your words hurt them,

or allow your actions to upset them –

for they will attempt to understand you, and try not to laugh at the obviousness of the outcome when you get back to your senses.

To be respected for whom you are

LIFE BY EXAMPLE.

…and know that your perception of reality is only how you define reality.

“Reassure a loved one of the constancy of your love and experience the endurance of loving kindness”
